During our refit of #577, we discovered that there is really a lot of wasted space in the long bow of a triton and decided to use it. We divided the anchor locker in half with a removable partition and also mounted a removable shelf far up into the bow for storage of a sail. A net will keep the sail in place. We will have only one anchor on our bow roller (a Bruce), but will have a second rode made-up and ready to go in the port half of our anchor locker. We have also mounted our second anchor (fortress) in the anchor locker. We decided to hang it from under the deck. The fortress is light and relatively flat so its easy to mount there and easy to get to. It could also be quite easily mounted on the hull on the spare rode side. Although we intend to have 250 rodes, we fed 300 of rode into the starboard half of the anchor locker with no problem but it pretty much filled up that half. We didnt feed any chain down on top of the rode, but feel that wont be a problem either. A softer more flexible rode works better than a stiffer rode. Lays better. We think were going to use Samson medium-lay rodes.
